So my employer sent out a new VAC/ PTO plan this morning. They changed things to the point where now you have to work FIVE years to be eligible for 1 week of PTO, ten years for 2. I hit my 9 year anniversary in 2 months and guess what? I get to drop from 3 weeks back down to 1 (it used to be 1 week after 1 year, 2 weeks after 5 and 3 weeks after 8. The only thing that's grandfathered in is what's in my accrual bank, otherwise once that's spent it resets to the new plan.

Crazy how they find more and more ways to disengage employees. None of us are motivated, none of us care. I'm leaving 4/1 to go to a new company but I feel bad for everyone who hasn't gotten to the point where they say screw it and leave. When they say "nobody wants to work" THIS is what we're referring to! Nobody wants to work for companies that do this. Idk I just needed to vent somewhere about this, not looking for advice or anything. But

Abandoned Colorado. 23 hr. ago Saw this was not surprised. I got my hands ahold of a payslip my old employer used to pay securitias for a guard. The company was paying them $28 an hour. The security guard was making $16 an hour. They were pocketing $12 an hour. Crazy. Anyway, I know that is how it works but horrible PTO plan and even worse benefits. 1.1k Reply Share

LaChanelAddict. 22 hr.ago. edited 19 hr. ago That is common of temp agencies and contractor status employees even in offices as well. I was a temp assistant at Goldman Sachs making 28 an hour but the firm was receiving 38 an hour. $10 an hour for just existing because no one checked in or said a word to me on the agency side the entire year I was there. 103 Reply Share

Chipotleislyfee - 23 hr. ago At my state government job, I max out Vacation time after 10 years - 30 days a year. I can bank up to 45 vacation days. I also accrue 1 sick day a month and can bank up to 90 sick days. Corporations are insane to think people will put up with no pto for 5 years. We really need mandatory pto laws in America 436 Reply Share

arsapeek 22 hr. ago this is horrid. They broke it down to the fifth decimal point? so that you can max out at 80 hours, not two weeks, but 80 hours pto after ten years? Bro that's a nightmare. I'm glad you're getting out, y'all need to burn the place down as you leave, that's nuts. 226 Reply Share :

sivadhash 23 hr. ago What does 0 days of PTO mean? You have to work like every day Monday to Friday forever? Except public holidays? 53 Reply Share ChiWhiteSox247 OP. 23 hr. ago Paid time off. Essentially you can't take a paid day off until you reach your 5 year anniversary

Cheedo4 23 hr. ago Even your previous PTO plan is ... at my company we got 5 hours of PTO per paycheck from day 1. Another company I was at we got 8, and those both increased gradually too. I never really thought those were good amounts either.

MarketingOwn3547. 22 hr. ago I'm going to assume they are ready for heavy turnover? New hiring/training, not to mention the knowledge you lose when someone leaves; why companies don't understand how much value that is will never cease to amaze me. They'd be happy to trade 100 dollars a year down the road, for 1 extra dollar today.

ChiWhiteSox247 OP. 22 hr. ago I don't get it either. A lot of us tenured guards who have been here for a long time have no idea what they're thinking. Every last one of us has one foot out the door and they'll be absolutely screwed

LikeABundleOfHay. 23 hr. ago What country are you in where any of that is legal? Where I live you get 4 weeks of PTO per year by law, every year no matter how long you've worked for that employer.
